The BBC Proms Out + About concert will perform at multiple points around the city of London, for a full day of free classical music in public places.
Classical music lovers in London should mark their calendars for the BBC Proms Out + About concert on Thursday, June 26. On that day, the BBC Symphony Orchestra will be serenading public venues with a 10-hour schedule of live music throughout the UK capital city, followed by an additional 2-hour concert at various locations within the British Museum. Because several of the venues selected throughout the city will host concerts simultaneously, the BBC advertises that the event will offer the public 17 hours of free music. A Tour of the CityThe venues aren't the typical concert halls. The jam-packed schedule includes many of the major landmarks of London, showcasing the capital as well as the musicians who make up the BBC Symphony Orchestra. From retail to hospitals to colleges to airports, the city of London is well-represented. The nomadic concert will start at 10:30am at Marks and Spencer, visit places such as the University College Hospital, Paddington Station, St. Paul's Covent Garden, the Leicester Square Underground Station, the Heathrow Airport and finally end up at 6:30pm at Habitat Regent Street. The ensembles at each venue will range from a percussion duo to a Palm Court orchestra and will include the BBC Symphony Orchestra Family Orchestra. The BBC provides an exact listing of the schedule:
