The Southern California Philharmonic offers classical music at affordable prices making this entertaining and talented group a musical gem for the entire community.

Listen as violins reveal the rise and fall of interwoven melodies, while woodwinds and brass echo harmonies of their own. The low crescendo of the tympani and the soaring height of the piccolo all merge into one inspired vision of musical expression. These are the sounds of the Southern California Philharmonic.

Formerly known as the Yorba Linda Symphony Orchestra, this recently renamed orchestral group is dedicated to promoting lifelong appreciation, enthusiasm and participation of music. As a locally based resource for classical music, the Southern California Philharmonic serves the community by presenting local concerts, supporting area students and as a performance venue for local musicians.

Local Philharmonic on the Rise

Since its formation, in 2003, the philharmonic has grown, in size, experience and accomplishment. Last year the group was invited to perform at the Cultural Festival of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

With stops in Beijing, Shanghai and Xian the orchestra performed in conjunction with other American and Chinese orchestras. Highlights of the China tour included performances at the Forbidden City Concert Hall and an outdoor extravaganza in the shadow of the Great Wall.

Classical Music for All Ages

Traditionally the philharmonic’s concert season has included four main performances. These programs encompass themes that include classical, popular, opera and holiday selections. The Rising Stars concert highlights local youth students who have competed for the opportunity to perform in concert accompanied by the philharmonic. This amazing display of young talent is not only entertaining but inspiring as well. Any aspiring young musician or vocalist would benefit from attending a motivating performance such as this.
